19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Now working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his first championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

Success also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, comprising in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent outbursts on court had prompted observers to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 initial opportunities in a tight third set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, he secured the win with a shot at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
